In 1944, the 441st Army Air Forces Base Unit was added to train additional pilots for the P-38. During the war, the airfield was used by the 4th Air Force, which stationed the 428th Fighter Squadron with Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft in 1943. The Army acquired an additional 163 acres of land to expand the runways and airfield. In 1942, after the United States entered World War II, the government purchased the airport and converted it into the Van Nuys Army Airfield. Who can forget that memorable airport scene at the end in the 1942 film “Casablanca”? The 80 acre airport that was surrounded by trees and farmland, was used for general aviation, and became popular with Hollywood stars as as a filming location. Van Nuys Airport opened on December 17, 1928, the 25th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first flight, as Metropolitan Airport. Van Nuys became the Valley’s satellite Los Angeles municipal civic center with the 1932 Art Deco Valley Municipal Building (Van Nuys City Hall), a visual landmark and Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. ![]() Van Nuys became the first new stop on the San Fernando Line of the Pacific Electric Railway, which help propel its early land sales and commercial development. It was annexed by Los Angeles on May 22, 1915, after completion of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, providing it with the water required for future development. The town was founded in 1911 and named for Isaac Newton Van Nuys, a farmer, business visionary and one of its developers. Huntington extended the Pacific Electric Railway (Red Cars) through the Valley to Owensmouth (now Canoga Park), the Suburban Home Company developed plans for roads and the towns of Van Nuys, Reseda (Marian) and Canoga Park (Owensmouth). We will fast forward to the early part of the 20th Century when in 1909, the Suburban Homes Company purchased 48,000 acres of the Farming and Milling Company for $2.5 million. The early history of this area with its Native American Indians being colonized by the Spanish is similar to that of other parts of the whole San Fernando Valley. ![]() Home to Van Nuys Airport and the Valley Municipal Building, it is the most populous community in the Valley. We will extend city main lines and construct or re-modify manholes per Plan specifications.Īll of us at Blu Jay Plumbing and Rooter are proud and honored to serve historic Van Nuys, a neighborhood in the central San Fernando Valley.

Gibson grabber12/29/2022 ![]() ![]() Great recording or live bass if you want a cutting bass tone, plenty of bottom end but also lots of super articulated midrange. Would excel in a 3-piece situation where the bass needs to really be heard and not stand in the shadows. Frets have good amount of wear but it's that vintage Gibson type fret with the wide flat fret, and uniform wear up and down the neck. It still rings true all over, but if you want tall frets you'll want to re-fret it. ![]() It's just been completely gone through and set up and is playing great with new strings. #Gibson grabber full#Weight is 8 pounds, 7 ounces. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing, as well as full specs.) Thanks for looking. If you want to hear a track I recorded with this bass check here. The Gibson G-3 was a bass guitar by Gibson building on the design of the Gibson Grabber. Introduced in 1975 as a companion to the Gibson Grabber, the G-3 (which stands for Grabber 3) introduced a new pickup scheme to the already established body style. Instead of a sliding pickup as was present in the Grabber, the G-3 featured a so-called "buck-and-a-half" trio of single coils. Along with a tone and volume control, the G-3 featured a three-way switch linked in with three Bill Lawrence single coil pickups. The pickups were designed for a "bright/low" tonality and all three pickups were designed with different tonalities. In the up position, the neck and middle pickups would be activated, and, as they were wired out of phase, a humbucker effect would result. Likewise, in the down position, the middle and bridge pickups would be activated similarly. However, when switched to the middle position, all three pickups would be activated, the neck and bridge pickups being in phase while the middle would be out of phase with both, hence the term "buck-and-a-half.The Grabber featured a bolt-on 34 1⁄ 2 in (876 mm) neck similar to Fender basses and shared a similar body shape with the Ripper. ![]() The Grabber also had a V-shaped headstock like the Gibson Flying V guitar. A distinctive feature of the Grabber was its adjustable pickup, which could be positioned by the player to simulate a neck or bridge pickup position, or in between, to provide further tonal variation. The pickup was brighter than the traditional Gibson style humbuckers. The Grabber had one volume and tone control each, and a removable bridge cover. The Grabber was originally built with a thin, maple body, but it was changed to alder in 1975. ![]() Download shareit for mac free12/29/2022 ![]() ![]()
Wally west flash12/29/2022 ![]() ![]() ![]() His quest to find his children led him into conflict with Barry, but after struggling to cope with the idea that his children may have been lost, Barry took Wally to Sanctuary, a mental hospital for superheroes. What's more, he was then cruelly informed of details he didn't even remember, namely that he had children. While he remembered his relationship to his wife Linda Park, she did not, and thus he was stuck loving a woman who didn't feel the same way. However, this would not be the end of Wally's struggles. This also led to him gaining some of his pre-Flashpoint memories and powers, and when Wally managed to return to reality with Barry's help, he warned the world's heroes about alterations to the timeline. Managing to hold onto his identity, Wally also learned of the alterations to the DC universe's timeline, seeing someone change the universe to its current state after Barry Allen had fixed the Flashpoint. However, Abra Kadabra, who remembered the pre-Flashpoint timeline, wanted revenge and wiped the world's memories of Wally and cast him into the Speed Force. Wally and Linda would eventually become parents to twins, Irey and Jai West.Īfter the universe-altering events of Flashpoint, Wally was still the first Kid Flash. However, Wally would usually overcome the odds and, with the love of his wife and the aid of the Flash Family, pull through. Wally later had to face up to the fact that his mentor wasn't the golden idol he had thought him to be and fight a new Reverse-Flash who was a former friend of his. He became a particular thorn in the side of Abra Kadabra, who descended into darker and darker schemes when trying to defeat Wally. Wally would face more hardship, but always worked to overcome it. ![]() Lets create pottery email 3112/28/2022 ![]() This complicated process obviously required excellent timing from the potter so as not to spoil the vase with unseemly discolouring.Ī good Greek vase probably cost only a day's wages. A third firing, again with good ventilation, re-reddened the clay of the pot whilst the painted areas, now protected by a thin wash, kept their original colouring. This ensured that the painted colours, particularly the black, darkened in colour. Then the pot was re-fired in a kiln starved of oxygen (reduction process) by adding water or damp wood inside the kiln. ![]() First, the pot was fired in an oxidising fire where good ventilation to the kiln ensured that the orange/red of the clay came to the fore. Pots were fired several times (in the same kiln) in order to achieve the required finish and colouring. The finished pot was then ready to be put in the kiln and fired at a temperature of around 960 ☌, which is relatively low and explains the 'softness' of Greek pottery (in comparison to, for example, Chinese porcelain). Trustees of the British Museum (Copyright) The latter two colours tended to flake off over time. Minor details were often added with a thinned black paint giving a yellow-brown colour, a white pipe-clay, and a dark red of ochre and manganese. Alternatively, only lines or figures were added in black using a thicker version of the black paint mentioned above and applied with a stiff brush or feather in consequence, a slight relief effect was achieved. Another technique, used more rarely, was to cover the vessel with a white clay paint. The paint was affixed to the pot by using a fixative of urine or vinegar which burned away in the heat of the kiln, binding the paint to the clay. This black paint was a mix of alkali potash or soda, clay with silicon content, and black ferrous oxide of iron. This process depended on the decorative style in vogue at the time, but popular methods included painting the whole or parts of the vase with a thin black adhesive paint which was added with a brush, the marks of which remain visible in many cases. Pots were fired several times (in the same kiln) in order to achieve the required finish & colouring. Clay was generally prepared and refined in settling tanks so that different consistencies of material could be achieved depending on the vessel types to be made with it. ![]() The clay ( keramos) to produce pottery ( kerameikos) was readily available throughout Greece, although the finest was Attic clay, with its high iron content giving an orange-red colour with a slight sheen when fired and the pale buff of Corinth. Whatever their artistic and historical value though, the vast majority of Greek vases, despite now being dusty museum pieces, were actually meant for everyday use and, to paraphrase Arthur Lane, it is perhaps worth remembering that standing on a stone pavement and drenched with water, they would have once gleamed in the Mediterranean sun. ![]() Further, pottery, with its durability (even when broken) and lack of appeal to treasure hunters, is one of the great archaeological survivors and is, therefore, an important tool for archaeologists and historians in determining the chronology of ancient Greece. 400 BCE provides not only some of the most distinctive vase shapes from antiquity but also some of the oldest and most diverse representations of the cultural beliefs and practices of the ancient Greeks. #LETS CREATE POTTERY EMAIL 31 FREE#The best part about "Let's create! While it delivered more of the same it just didn’t have the same magic touch as its predecessors. When Eye of the Beholder III: Assault on Myth Drannor was released in 1993, I snapped it up immediately. Having two EotB games to play simultaneously was a slice of heaven for me, as the sequel bettered the original in almost every conceivable way. I’m surprised I didn’t develop arachnophobia after that.Īround the time I bought the first game, the sequel Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon had already been released. The early monsters didn’t provide much of a challenge, but then I stumbled upon that infestation of 6-foot tall spiders on Level 4 that wiped out my entire party several times due to their poisonous bites. Interactions with NPCs are just walls of exposition text, but sometimes I was given a choice like should I slay the injured dwarf or spare the drow leader’s life… not that any of that mattered in the long run.ĭeath is never far away in Eye of the Beholder while characters can be raised from the dead there are few opportunities to do so, especially early on. Not that I cared, I was having too much fun exploring.Īt first I thought my party would never meet anyone to talk to, but as soon as I cleared the sewers and reached the levels beyond I was proven wrong. Even when I accidentally discovered that the game has hidden “Special Quests” I was mostly clueless as to how I triggered them. Except for a crude map of the starting levels, a compass in the UI and a few vague clues gleamed from the manual, I was utterly on my own, trapped in a sewer. The game’s design firmly points to “figure things out for yourself”. I was familiar with older games telling me in plain text what monsters I had encountered, but here I saw first-hand that I was facing one murderous kobold, and that I had to act fast to deal with him as EotB is real-time, after all. ![]() That little kobold sure had a vicious glint in his eyes. A few minutes of checking my gear and looking around led me face to face with my first monster. No music is played beyond the title screen, which left me only with environmental sounds to break the silence. Bare bones piled up in the corner and glowing eyes staring at me from a sewer grate. Once the game starts it won’t take long to get immersed in the game’s atmosphere. #EYE OF THE BEHOLDER 3 INTRO MANUAL#I did as the manual suggested and created a mixed party of 4 characters that could deal with whatever dangers lay ahead, knowing that I could recruit 2 NPCs in-game if something went wrong. Looking back on that I can imagine that hardcore roleplayers would be miffed, but to a newcomer like myself it was perfect. Turns out that half of the main stats are useless and many smaller rules are either ignored or hidden from the player. ![]() The game mesmerized me so much that I didn’t stop to ask “Wait, sewers?” but was instead eager to start my adventure and see where it would take me.Įye of the Beholder’s character creation appeared both simple and complex at the same time, but it wasn’t until much later that I realized why that was the developers decided to merely use the AD&D rules as a guideline instead of wrapping the game in them. The intro blew me away as it laid down the plot: A party of adventurers is sent to look for an evil presence within the city of Waterdeep and told to start in the sewers. I had never heard of anything called Dungeons & Dragons before this, and in hindsight the EotB game served as a wonderful gateway game into that realm. Eye of the Beholder was a point-of-no-return for me when it came to RPGs, it looked like a deep and complex game with stunning visuals and a gripping atmosphere. ![]() Butterfly telescope goldfish solidgold12/28/2022 ![]() The next step in caring for a telescope butterfly goldfish is to ensure you do water changes twice per week, by adding warm water instead of cold water. You also need to clean the fish’s food supply every day before feeding them. This is essential since the fungus can form on the walls of the tank and may lead to bacteria that are hard to get out. To prevent any diseases, it is important to clean your tank once every three weeks. You must inspect the food every day as they can get sick if there are excessive leftovers which may lead to death. You must ensure that these animals have enough food in their diet and it is essential that you feed them at least two different types of food every day as they require different types of foods, according to their age. The next step in caring for a telescope butterfly goldfish is to feed them with the proper food. You must also ensure that your water temperature ranges between 70 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Ensure that you put enough water in your tank as it is necessary for these fish to be able to swim freely. The next step in caring for a telescope butterfly goldfish is to add fresh water and set up the tank. A vacuum cleaner can be used to remove any debris from around the floor. Once this is done, it is important to clean the walls, floors, and decorations in the tank. Ensure there are no leaks, cracks, or holes in your tank. You need to fill your tank with at least twenty gallons of fresh water that is at room temperature when done so. The setting up and cleaning of the tank is the first step in caring for your telescope butterfly goldfish. It is advisable to care for a telescope butterfly fish following the provided steps below and maintaining the proper temperature. Best 6 steps to butterfly Telescope goldfish care? I'll instead focus on the feel of TextMate. I could babble on about all the amazing features, such as code foldings, easy macros, live-updating project management, stellar syntax highlighting (mixing Ruby with HTML in rhtml files), tabs, column mode, smart typing, or command runnings (don't leave the editor to run unit tests). TextMate has single-handedly rendered TextEdit and Xcode obsolete, contained Subethaedit to strictly collaborative tasks, and stopped me from feeling sorry about not liking BBEdit. TextMate is the answer to all my editing prayers. But without project management, or other advanced editor features, it didn't even come close to meeting the needs I had and have as a Ruby programmer. With the appearance of Subethaedit, I found an absolutely fantastic application for talking shared notes, writing collaborative school papers, and doing the odd remote pair programming. Unless you're working in Objective-C or Java, Project Builder/Xcode is just TextEdit with mediocre syntax highlighting and project management, though. So Project Builder (now known as Xcode) turned out to be the solution. Working on a bunch of files using just the Finder and TextEdit gets old fast. ![]() It wasn't long before I absolutely needed some kind of project management support in TextEdit. But thankfully TextEdit is actually a somewhat decent, if very basic, editor (much unlike the atrocity that is Notepad). For Windows users, it must sound horrible to use the built-in editor. So for quite some time my editor needs were fulfilled by TextEdit with the TextExtras extension. It felt so much out of place alongside my Cocoa applications that it along with its immensely bloated features list just left me cold. There's was a distinct feeling of "is that it?!". So I tried to see if I might too could come to love the editor. The editor everyone was using in the good old days of the crashing Mac (or OS 9 as I'm also told it was called). Well, that's not entirely true of course. But on the Mac there was pretty much nothing of the kind. ![]() On Windows, I had been a big fan of UltraEdit and knew of TextPad a decent alternative. When I first arrived on the Mac with Jaguar two years ago, I was somewhat stumped by the lack of a decent editor.
